THE PATH TO A SAFER NASHVILLE
BEGINS HERE.
Nashville Electric Service (NES) and Metro have partnered with Tennessee-based Path Company to retrofit over 55,000 streetlights across the Music City metropolitan area.
This multi-phase project will take place over the next several years, and will provide Nashvillians with brighter and safer roadways in alignment with the City’s Vision Zero initiative.
The project is currently underway with over 14,000 lights already converted to LED with plans to convert another 10,000 before the end of the year. The project will continue into 2025 and beyond, until all of the streetlights within Metro’s boundaries are retrofitted.
This project includes the conversion of all public streetlights within the Nashville Metropolitan Area. The retrofit will not include security and private lighting.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
PROJECT PHASES
Conversions began in the northernmost areas of the City, with progress flowing clockwise throughout project phases. This progress follows the workflow of system audits currently being undertaken by NES so as to maintain the accuracy and efficiency of the conversion project itself. Additionally, NES is converting all of the high mast lights (commonly found within and alongside highway interchanges) around the City to LED during the early project phases. The current focus area for the project remains north of the City; however, the project will transition to the downtown portion of Metro in the coming months.
